Special events

Step inside the heart of our school! Our special events program is designed to bring our families together and give our students a chance to shine. Whether we’re parading in costume, sharing a Thanksgiving feast, or boarding the 'Polar Express,' there is always something exciting happening at Main Street UMC Preschool. Explore our annual traditions below!

Every October, our church grounds are transformed into a sea of orange as we welcome our annual Pumpkin Patch! A beloved tradition for our church and preschool for many years, the patch arrives early in the month and stays open for the whole community to enjoy.

During the school day, our Toddler through Pre-K classes take special "field trips" right here on campus. They’ll gather among the patch for a cozy storytime and the excitement of hunting for their very own "perfect" little pumpkin to take home. We invite our school families to return with their cameras during the evening and weekends to find their porch pumpkins and make a few memories under the autumn sun!

Gratitude is best shared together. One of our most cherished traditions is the annual Thanksgiving Feast, where we open the doors of our Fellowship Hall to the families of our 3’s and Pre-K students.

Our young artists spend weeks preparing, and you’ll find the tables beautifully adorned with handmade decorations created by the children themselves. It is a wonderful time for parents, grandparents, and students to slow down, fellowship together, and give thanks for the many blessings of the school year.

Put on your favorite pajamas and grab your ticket—the Polar Express is pulling into the station! This magical day is a highlight of our December calendar. Students experience the thrill of a "real" train ride around the preschool, complete with a conductor and a trip through our snowy winter wonderland.

The North Pole journey concludes with a magical encounter with Santa Claus himself! It’s a day filled with laughter, "snowy" surprises, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime.

Get ready for an evening of music and joy! Our students work so hard to prepare for our annual Christmas Program. From the focused ringing of the Pre-K handbells to the sweet, enthusiastic singing of our Three’s and Pre-K classes, this event is a showcase of growth and holiday spirit.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our entire community—families and church members alike—to gather together and support our children as they share the story of Christmas through song.

At Main Street UMC Preschool, we love a good story—especially when we get to be in it! For our annual Book Parade, every class works together to represent a special book chosen by their teacher.

Each classroom "dresses up" in creative ways (keep an eye out for details from your child’s teacher!) and prepares a themed song to match their story. The entire preschool then joins together for a festive parade through the front of our Preschool (weather permitting). It’s a wonderful, musical way to showcase our favorite characters and authors.

Every year has a story, and this is our favorite chapter! Our End of Year Program is where our 3’s and Pre-K students share the songs they’ve tucked into their hearts all year long.

Watching the Pre-K students perform on the handbells and walk across the sanctuary to receive their Bibles is a "full circle" moment for families and teachers alike. This special gift serves as a reminder of their time with us as they "move up" to their next big milestone. We invite you to witness this proud tradition and celebrate the amazing children who make our school a community.

The Bibles presented to our Pre-K students are chosen with love by our church and preschool. Our hope is that as they transition to Kindergarten, this gift will be a constant reminder of God’s love and the wonderful beginning they had at Main Street UMC Preschool.
